Kart Racer
Design Goals
To develop a short kart racer for my and my wife’s baby shower. Along with more traditional Baby Shower games and activities I wanted to inject a little of my own interests and so though creating a game would be a fun choice.
There are three Lap Times to try to beat – Tay’s, Mine, and Baby’s. There are also three separate karts to choose from, each having their own speed, handling, and special features.
I’d been wanting to make an arcade racing game for a while now, so this was a great opportunity to learn about vehicle physics in Unreal Engine 5. It was also a good exercise in learning checkpoints, pawn selection, timers, race course design, and (self imposed) tight deadlines!
